Cold, hard spinoff to Tails of Iron
Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter is a premium adventure experience from Odd Bug Studio. This action RPG follows a new hero, Arlo the heir to the Warden of the Wastes, as he journeys through the Northern Wastelands to secure their domain and defeat an ancient evil.
With a storyline that’s a direct spin-off of the first Tails of Iron game, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter continues to build on the world of medieval rats. Combine this with the signature art style, top-tier voice work, and brutal boss fights, and you’re in for a wild ride.
Become the new Warden of the Wastes
Fans of the original Tails will immediately establish the connection with Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter. Avor the Warden of the Northern Wastes was a difficult boss added in Tails of Iron: Bloody Whiskers. The big white rat was accompanied by a small archer, which fans believe is a young Arlo. Now, it’s his turn to embark on an adventure to protect their domain from the Dark Wings.
The game presents itself as raising the stakes from its predecessors. Instead of frogs, the main enemies this time are bat creatures. Aside from that, it hosts a different cast of characters. The stages and bosses are mostly new and refreshing, despite being set in the same world. The two Tails games are tied by the unique art style and narrations by Doug Cockle.
Another upgrade from its predecessor, Whiskers of Winter also expands on the base-building aspect. Instead of Redgi’s armory and keep, you’re now in charge of the Northern Settlements. Still, there are aspects that would turn some players away. First is its increased difficulty level, comparable to Hollow Knight or Blasphemous 2. Another issue might be the story, which follows the same pattern as the first.
A worthy continuation of the Tails series
Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter introduces Arlo as the new Warden of the Northern Wastes in an epic adventure. With an enhanced narrative and gameplay, the game introduces new challenges, enemies, and characters while retaining its distinctive art style and immersive storytelling. Despite its increased difficulty and familiar story structure, the all-new cast and expanded base-building mechanics add depth to the experience.
